Nintendo's Online Future

There has been a lot of speculation about how the Wii U will use online. Nintendo has stayed quiet regarding concrete details but has said it will be open and flexible, as a one size fits all approach simply doesnt work. Third parties have managed to keep quiet on the subject. Which is worrying if you think back to a few weeks before E3 when leaks started to emerge about the hardware - does this mean that Nintendo have not yet got a plan together? Would it be wrong to be optimistic that Ubisoft are making a Wii U iteration of (former PC exclusive) Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online?
One feature from the 3DS that not many people have picked up upon is the reaction-cam in Starfox 64 3D's multiplayer. As the Wii U controller features a camera, a similar feature could appear. There would have to be a small tweak to avoid friends looking up your nose from the controller on your lap. How about something like the facial animation in the recent NBA Jam?
This one lone feature has given me hope that Nintendo have an idea of how to get that Nintendo magic in their online experience, by making it entirely social.

  1. I agree, they have no plan but hope the 3rd parties will step up and help. I suppose, at least they are open to help this time rather than blindly going there own way.
